Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark was very different than many musicals I have seen before. I really loved the choreography and thought it was more current than other shows which I think helps make it more fun for teens to watch. The music by Bono and The Edge was a mix between pop music and more traditional show tunes yet all the songs sounded alike. No song stayed with me after the show. I also didn't think the book of the show was very well written.

However, the production values are great. The costumes by Eiko Ishioka are amazing, as was the mask design by Julie Taymor. The mutants were very detailed and beautiful in a villain kind of way. The scenic design by George Tsypin was like a big pop-up comic book. It was very fun. There are lots of interesting things they added to really make the story of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark come to life. The Lighting by Donald Holder and Projections Design by Kyle Cooper helped make this visually one of the most stunning shows I've seen. The flying was cool and I wish there was more of it.

The main character of Peter Parker, played by Reeve Carney, wasn't the best. I found Carney boring and in some parts of the show I found myself looking at anything else besides him. The female lead, MJ, played by Jennifer Damiano, was excellent. Damiano had a lot of energy and a beautiful voice. She was who I wanted to watch. The villain, the Green Goblin, who was originally the scientist (who inspired Peter) was played by Patrick Page. He was very funny. It was interesting that the villain was the comic relief.

Overall, I would recommend this musical because it was fun. In fact, I would like to go see it again.
