Provocative Doctor Speaks on Teen Issues
She’s been labeled the “Provocative Doctor” and as she speaks about the problems surrounding today’s youth you can immediately sense how she received that label. Having a PHD in Clinical Social Work, Dr. Elisa English has built a practice that targets issues such as suicide, depression, but most importantly she wants to give guidance and empowerment to today’s youth. The Gangs of New York
With gang membership approaching over 15,000 in NYC and gangs now recruiting over social networks the issue has become extremely problematic and chronic. Many teenagers in the city fear going to school because gang members may retaliate against them for not joining. Recently NYC High School students participated in a writing contest where they were asked to write about how they would combat the gang problem if they were NYPD Commissioner. Two students at Jane Addams High School in the Bronx have allowed TeenNewsNet to post their submissions so our readers can gain further insight on the seriousness of this issue and its implication on the youth of NYC.
