Platanos and Collard Greens, with performances at the Florence Guild Hall Theater (55 E. 50th St., NY, NY), is one of the funniest and memorizing theater I have ever seen. I enjoyed every moment of it!

The characters are vibrant, each bringing their own unique style, life, and even humor. Although the play is very funny, it still allows the audience to focus on the serious message of its theme.. Platanos and Collard Greens delves into the continuing conflicts between Hispanics and African Americans. It’s refreshing to see a production that is reminiscent of classic theater. Like most theater of the past, Platanos and Collard Greens addresses a serious issue of racial tension in an intelligent and intriguing format.

I was very impressed that Queens, NY native writer David Lamb was willing to deliver theater that not only entertains, but teaches. After seeing Platanos and Collard Greens, like myself, your eyes will be more open and mind educated to the struggles between the Hispanic and African American community.

There are not enough brilliant words than can express how wonderful and relevant Platanos and Collard Greens is. Therefore, if you have yet to see it, you need to get going. When and if you do go please contact us to let us know how you enjoyed it.
