My Friend
By: John DeRosse, 3rd Grade, PS 254
My friend
we play together.
My friend
friends forever.
My friend
the one I can trust.
My friend
always by my side.
My friend
the one that smiles a mile away.
What a good friend!
How luck am I!

Brooke Hen and Her Paper and Pen
By: Brooke Cradin, 5th Grade, Garden City Park School, New Hyde Park, NY
I'll tell you the story of Brooke Hen.
And you know what I tell you is true.
She loved to draw on paper and her favorite pen.
She drew all day, she drew all night.
Until she turned into a work of art.
From doodling at school to
drawing at home, drawing alone,
or even on the phone.
Her head turned into the middle
of a flower. Her body into
the stem, her hair into petals, and
her arms into leaves.
then she was hanging on a wall
in her house in a picture frame.
And now instead of watching
her draw, we all look at her in awe.
